Over one third of your life is spent in bed, in other words you will have spent 15 years in bed by the time you reach the age of 45, so its very important that you choose the right bed for you.
You need to consider the size of your bedroom when deciding on a bed size. You need enough room to walk around the bed, and don’t forget the rest of the bedroom furniture need to fit in too. Leave ample space for the bedroom and wardrobe doors to open if space is tight.
How your mattress feels will depend on the springs and fillings. We offer 3ft, 4ft6 and 5ft width mattresses and they are all anti-allergy as standard.
Types of mattresses available:
Open coil – a traditional spring system, which uses high-tensile steel to form a hard-wearing, comfortable and supportive platform. The border would be rod or wire giving the mattress a firm edge, which helps retain its shape.
Pocket sprung – more luxurious with rows of smaller, lightweight springs of varying shapes and sizes. Each housed separately in a fabric pocket, making the mattress more flexible. The springs work independently to respond to individual body weight. Finished with hand stitched sides for strong, stable edges.
Caring for your mattress
After delivery the mattress should be aired for 4 hours to freshen and remove any aroma from storage. The mattress should be aired on a weekly basis by turning back the bedlinen for a few hours.
Avoid using a plastic sheet on or under the mattress as this prevents air circulation and may cause condensation.
With sprung mattresses it’s important to turn your mattress regularly to maximise its life. Body weight compresses a mattress, leading to dips and ultimately an uneven sleeping surface.
