HANGING
- Full instructions on how to hang your curtains are on the leaflet included with your product.
- Please ensure that curtains do not hang too close to windows or radiators, where both excessive moisture from condensation or excessive heat and dryness can have quite severe effects in terms of dimensional variation and soiling. Condensation can result in the discolouration of the curtains, which could eventually lead to fabric deterioration.
CARE
- It is important that curtains are vacuumed regularly with an upholstery nozzle whilst in situ at the window. This will prevent dust and general household soiling from building up and gradually becoming embedded in the fabric.
- When the curtains require cleaning, all removable hooks and other metal or plastic fittings should be removed and retained. This includes the foam inserts in the heading of Goblet Curtains. Drawstrings should be loosened in order to flatten gathered headings, but not removed. We recommend that matching items be cleaned together.
- We recommend that all curtains be Dry Cleaned according to the label sewn in the product. As you proceed through your order, this information will also be displayed on your selected fabric.
- Always allow for 3% shrinkage upon the first Dry Clean.
- Remove all spills immediately using a clean damp cloth. Do not rub or soak the fabric but dab gently. Treat from the back of the cloth if possible.
FABRIC DESIGN
- Laura Ashley Made to Measure Curtains are always cut on the same design at the top. Therefore, in a pair of curtains the left and right curtains will have the same part of the design at the top and bottom. If you order two pairs of curtains of identical size, in the same fabric, position of the design will be identical in both pairs. Should you order two or more pairs of a different length in the same fabric, the design will be the same at the top but will differ at the bottom.
- Where a product has more than one width of fabric, on the seams where they join, the fabric design will be matched.
- However, at the edges of the curtains the design cannot fully match when the curtains are closed. This is because part of the design is lost in the curtain facings, and other methods on certain products.
DESIGN ALIGNMENT
- Natural fabrics do not always have perfect alignment of the design straight across the width, but our manufacturing techniques guarantee that Laura Ashley fabrics do not go off line by more than 3%. (I.e. 4cms on a 140cm wide fabric.)
MOVEMENT OF FABRIC IN SITU
- Due to variations in atmospheric conditions such as humidity and temperature, there may be a possibility of shrinkage or relaxation of curtains whilst in situ at the window. It is important that the temperature and humidity of the surrounding environment should be controlled in order to prevent the movement.
- As such conditions are beyond the control of Laura Ashley, we are unable to accept any responsibility for the movement of curtains when hung. However, we do ensure that adequate hems will have been allowed during the making of your curtains to allow alterations, should this be required. The cost of these alterations remains the responsibility of the customer.
