Cabinets - cleaning and careCabinet care

  • Dust frequently using a soft, lint free, absorbent cloth. Avoid using wax and silicone polishes. Maintain any special finishes such as oiling, by following the information and care guides delivered with your furniture.
  • Clean spills immediately using a blotting action rather than a wiping action.
  • Keep wooden furniture away from heat sources and direct sunlight and rotate accessories on furniture so they don’t sit in the same place all the time.
  • Use pads, cloths or felt to protect fine finishes from rubber feet, hot dishes, beverages and vases etc.
  • Lift and place objects, do not drag them across the surface of the furniture.

Your furniture may have a lacquered or oiled finish, or if the wood is untreated, it may just be finished with a clear wax. Furniture with a hard lacquer or wax polish finish should just be dusted with a soft dry cloth, and waxed furniture given a coat of beeswax a couple of times a year to help maintain its lustre. Spray polishes are quick and easy to use but those containing silicones may spoil the furniture’s surface by building up over time.
