Beds - General information

SELECTING YOUR BED
Laura Ashley bed frames are beautiful, decorative and provide a definite classic or contemporary look to your bedroom. A bed frame consists of a head and end board with a wooden slatted base. Laura Ashley offer a range of both metal and wooden bed frames which feature either sprung or solid slats. Some bed frames are sold complete with a mattress to offer quality and value for money, while others are sold separately allowing you the flexibility to choose your own mattress.

We offer a wide range of quality mattresses to ensure your complete comfort; full details are available in the Laura Ashley catalogue or on our website.

Bed Size
-       Consider the size of your bedroom when choosing your bed size.
-       Think about how much room you have to walk around the bed and the space occupied by the rest of your bedroom furniture.
-       Leave ample space for the bedroom and wardrobe doors to open.
-       If you are short on space but want an extra bed for visitors take a look at our metal day beds. Our day beds come complete with trundle and two mattresses, which pulls out and can be raised to the same height as the bed creating a large double sleeping space or two singles.

Mattress Size
-       Please ensure that the mattress you intend using is compatible with the dimensions of your chosen bed before purchase. Bed dimensions are available from the Laura Ashley catalogue or our website
-       Laura Ashley offers a wide range of quality mattresses fully compatible with our bed range.
-       As with all slatted beds some slight movement of the mattress on the smooth slats should be expected.

METAL CAST BED COLLECTION
-       Laura Ashley metal beds are elegantly crafted and feature hand poured castings and sprung slats.
-       We offer a choice of sizes to suit all needs, single (3’), double (4’6”) and large double (5’) and day beds.
-       All of our metal beds are sold as self-assembly. Assembly is very simple and full instructions will be enclosed with your product.
-       Metal beds are not suitable for children under the age of 6 as the frame may present an entrapment hazard.

Features of Metal Cast Beds
All of our beds are hand finished so it is important to understand their unique properties that add to the individuality of each piece.

-       Pouring Points are a feature of all hand cast beds and are formed as part of the casting process. These pouring points are then hand fettled and may appear as small raised areas around joints.

Maintenance of Metal Cast Beds
-       To maintain the appearance of your Bed we recommend regular dusting with a soft cloth.
-       Spills should be removed immediately, in particular do not allow liquid to remain on your slats as this can cause wood to warp or finishes to de-laminate
-       Stubborn stains may be wiped with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution and dried with a lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasives or scouring creams.

Maintenance of Bed and Mattress Sets
To prolong the life of your mattress please follow the guidelines below:
-       We recommend turning mattresses every month to ensure even wear and prolong the life of your mattress.
-       We strongly recommend that you prevent liquid coming into contact with the mattress surface and fillings, as this can cause damage.
-       Laura Ashley offer a range of machine washable mattress and pillow protectors, which offer some additional protection from soiling. See catalogue or website for details.

WOODEN BED COLLECTION
-       Laura Ashley wooden beds are beautifully crafted and feature either sprung or fixed slats.
-       We offer a choice of sizes to suit all needs, single (3’), double (4’6”) and large double (5’).
-       Our wooden bed frames have complimenting cabinet pieces so you can give your whole bedroom one look. Selected furniture ranges have cabinet pieces for both the bedroom and living space.
-       Most wooden beds are assembled on delivery. Please check the relevant product details for confirmation.

Features of Wooden Beds
-       Details of the various cabinet features and finishes available can be found within the relevant cabinet range in the catalogue or on the website. Please read these carefully to select a bed which is perfect for you.

Maintenance of Wooden Beds
-       Please follow the care instructions for the relevant cabinet range; details are available on the product detail pages and will be included with your purchase.
-       Spills should be removed immediately; in particular do not allow liquid to remain on your slats as this can cause wood to warp or finishes to de-laminate.

GENERAL CARE OF BEDS
-       Take care when moving your furniture. Dragging pieces across the floor will cause damage to the joints and weaken fixings.
-       Take care to prevent sharp objects from coming into contact with your bed as this may damage the finish.
-       If your furniture becomes stained, scratched or chipped or suffers other damage we recommend professional help is sought to restore it.
-       It is essential that your bed be positioned on a level and solid surface so the frame sits correctly and movement is minimized.
-       Avoid exposing your bed to direct sunlight as this may prematurely fade the colour. A minimum clearance of 30cm from heat sources is advised.

All Laura Ashley products are delivered with full care and assembly instructions (where relevant). Following these guidelines will ensure product performance is maintained. Laura Ashley is not responsible for defects caused by the misuse of your product.
